What is Permethrin?
Permethrin is a clothing-worn repellent that repels and kills ticks, mosquitos, fleas, gnats, flies, and other biting insects. Ranger Ready with Permethrin 0.5% should be applied directly to clothing and gear, and is effective for up to 40 days or 5 washes. Permethrin is an insecticide in the pyrethroid family, synthetic chemicals that act like natural extracts from the chrysanthemum flower.
What is Picaridin?
Picaridin is a body-worn repellent that is the safe and effective alternative to DEET. Ranger Ready with Picaridin 20% protects against ticks and mosquitos for 12 hours, and against gnats, flies, chiggers, and other biting insects for up to 8 hours, and is safe for adults, children over age-1, and during pregnancy. Picaridin is a synthetic compound derived from the natural compound piperine, found in the group of plants used to produce black pepper.

How to Apply Permethrin and Picaridin
Permethrin
Always wear protective gloves while applying Permethrin. With a slow sweeping motion, apply Ranger Ready’s clothing-worn Permethrin 0.5% Bug Spray directly to clothing, tents, sleeping bags, dog beds, horse saddles, blankets, and other gear while keeping the bottle six to eight inches away. Hang to dry for two or more hours. Once dry, your treated clothing and gear is unscented and safe for children and animals.
Picaridin
Ranger Ready’s Picaridin 20% Insect Repellent can be sprayed directly on your skin everyday and will protect against ticks and mosquitos for 12 hours and against gnats, flies, chiggers, and more for 8 hours. Be sure to apply liberally to all exposed skin, and spray on hands before applying to your face.
