ABOUT RANGER READY REPELLENTS™: Proven Protection Made in the U.S.A.
INVENTED IN SOUTH NORWALK, CT: We live just 50 miles down the coast from Lyme, Connecticut, the epicenter of tick-borne diseases (T-B-D's). Lyme disease has migrated well beyond where it was discovered in 1980 by Dr. Willy Burgdorfer, a Swiss infectious disease specialist working in the U.S. at the time. Our neighbors from New York to Massachusetts have been declared T-B-D Hot Zones. As many as 65% of ticks in our area carry the Lyme disease pathogen. The spread of disease-carrying ticks and insects is becoming an increasing problem nationwide. Our children will soon face new and much more dangerous pathogens like the Powassan virus, which leaves +15% of patients dead in six weeks or less. As inventors, our quest was to improve how our families are protected from what we call the “Tick Menace.” Ranger Ready Repellents are the result of our team of inventors, researchers and scientists who have worked for more than a year to understand how we could better protect our future generations.
A SAFER AND MORE EFFECTIVE REPELLENT: We believe that consumers have an irrational relationship with DEET. On one hand, you must have effective tick and insect protection but on the other hand you know intuitively that applying DEET may be harmful. DEET is a strong neurotoxin and a plasticizer of which +15% is absorbed into your skin with each use. Hence, our team wanted to create a better repellent and decided to use the active ingredient Picaridin, which is safer and more effective than DEET. Picaridin was developed by Bayer Pharmaceuticals in the 1980’s and is recognized around the world as providing safe, effective and long-lasting protection. Ranger Ready Repellents are safe to use on your skin, on clothing, on plastics and around fishing and camping gear. We want you to willingly apply as part of your daily skin care regimen. Hence, we have engineered a superior experience: better skin feel, great fragrance, less tacky, and protection for up to 12 hours against ticks and mosquitos.
PROTECTING OUR NEXT GENERATIONS: As researchers, we recognize that certain natural oils may repel insects for short periods of time; however, given the threat of serious illness, we do not see relying on unregulated flower oils as adequate protection for our families or yours. Ranger Ready Repellents are registered with the EPA whereas many natural oils are not. The CDC recommends using an EPA-registered insect repellent. Choosing an EPA-registered repellent ensures the EPA has evaluated and approved the product for its effectiveness and human safety when used in accordance with the label. Our future generations will be best served by protecting themselves with Picaridin, a safe, effective and long-lasting alternative to DEET and Permethrins.
ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY: Aerosol spray cans, which contain propellants, hark back to the 1950's when hairspray was all the rage. When you use these cans, 20% of what goes onto your skin is Butane, Propane and Isobutane. Packaging has come a long way since then, and today there is no reason that these harsh chemicals should ever come in contact with your skin. We designed a field-tested bottle that is recyclable and sprays 360 degrees of fine mist by simply pumping your finger. Our repellents are better for you and better for the environment.
MADE LOCALLY IN CONNECTICUT: South Norwalk and other industrious towns in Connecticut once manufactured many of the products that are now made outside of the United States. It didn’t make sense to us that our next best option for a repellent included 30-40% DEET from China propelled from aerosol cans that end up in a landfill. Our company is committed to competing with U.S.-sourced raw materials and using local suppliers to make a superior product at a fair price.
BUY LESS REPELLENT: We learned that most of us have many landfill-ready cans of repellents buried in the far corners of our belongings. In fact, you can buy cans that have been transported to over 50,000 retail stores across the U.S. We'd like you to reconsider that strategy and start using recyclable fine-mist pumps that are easy to have sent directly to you. A 3 pack of Ranger Ready Repellents is designed to provide protection based on how often you require protection. And, if you don't finish the bottle, it will be good for at least two years. Please Recycle Responsibly!
